IFC Mall sets out to bag shoppers

Flora Wu

The North American-style shopping experience is now available in Hong Kong.

The IFC Mall is trying to steal customers from Pacific Place and Landmark with a free porter service. Men in uniform (it's not what you're thinking, ladies) will assist shoppers with their bags by collecting them from each shop and delivering them to your appointed location in the mall. A truly great service for tai tais with really heavy handbags stuffed with credit cards.

And for those in a rush to get some shopping done, IFC Mall has introduced a valet service for $50 an hour. May sound like a fine deal, but with 1,800 parking spaces, IFC has the city's largest indoor car park so you're guaranteed to find a spot.

Compared to the $8 per hour park-it-yourself option, the valet service is for the ultra-bad, ultra-lazy or ultra-rich parker. And forgetting to tip in both services is a serious faux pas. For more information, ring 2895 3308.
