Cable TV has acquired the renowned children's channel Nickelodeon, adding to its popular Cartoon Network.

Nickelodeon launched on channel 116 yesterday. It features a wide range of programmes, including animation, pre-school shows, dramas, sitcoms, game shows, music and variety shows.

Cartoon Network, on channel 16, offers animated entertainment from the world's largest cartoon library of Warner Bros, MGM and Hanna-Barbera. Putonghua is available as a secondary audio option on the channel.

Cable TV will offer a Kids' Pack made up of the two channels, available from August 20 for $40 a month.

'The combination of Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network offers a diverse array of programmes and will be a medium for the children to learn language and develop positive values for life,' said a Cable TV spokesman.
