KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE BALL

HAVING FOCUS gives you a reference point and keeps you on a forward track, even if you decide to switch to a different route at a later stage. Think of your studies as a personal issue. Consider why you want to study and do it for yourself. By learning about yourself and your needs, the motivation gets stronger.

Organise your time. You will find it easier to stick to your schedule if you plan and allocate time for your studies. This may mean you have to skip your favourite television programme or hang out with friends once instead of five times a week, but compromise is part of the growing game. Focus on your immediate goals (your next assignment or project). Each small goal leads to a bigger one. Create the right surroundings, as this will help you to concentrate. Turn the TV off. Seek privacy. If you cannot get privacy at home, study at school or your local library. Take regular 10-minute breaks. Get some fresh air, have a drink or a snack.
