An opening has arisen for experienced engineers with fluent Putonghua and effective communication skills who are happy to travel for their jobs.

A United States-listed company urgently needs to hire a manager of engineering (Asia) and a quality assurance management representative (China) for its plant on the mainland.

A.T. Cross manufactures and markets branded writing instruments, timepieces and accessories worldwide.

Working in the manufacturing and product engineering departments, the manager of engineering will be required to take a strong technical leadership role, in addition to interacting with staff at every level of the organisation. This includes providing technical support and taking responsibility for the technical development of all of Cross's Asian suppliers and manufacturers.

As investigating and solving complex technical problems is par for the course, candidates should relish developing and applying advanced engineering theories and research techniques.

Thanks to the specialist nature of the work, only those with a sound understanding of manufacturing assembly, injection moulding, decorative coating, electroplating and engineering analysis should think of applying for this role.

However, candidates must also offer at least five years' appropriate technical experience, be born leaders and happy to travel.

Overseeing the quality systems programme and processes at Cross China will be the main duties for the quality assurance management representative (engineer/manager).

Planning, developing, managing and controlling the programmes and procedures used to define and monitor the level of product quality are what this job is all about.

Nonetheless, some interaction with suppliers is also required, as well as regular written and verbal communication with Cross USA.
