Father wakes to find his baby son dead beside him
A father of two woke to find his six-month-old son dead in bed beside him at his Ngau Tau Kok home yesterday morning.
Roused by the return home of his wife, who had been playing mahjong all night, the man found his son, Fok Shun-hei, lying unconscious. His wife called police and the infant was taken to United Christian Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The couple told police they, the boy and their four-year-old daughter usually slept in the same bed in the seventh-floor flat.
The infant had apparently been in good health before his death and there were no signs that he had been crushed by his father or sister while sleeping, said an officer from Sau Mau Ping police station.
The officer said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Shun-hei's death.
An elderly neighbour said the man, 32, his wife, 28, and their children had moved into the flat a few weeks ago.
