MTV award for best video game soundtrack

It's official: we've run out of awards to dish out and the broadcast media is making up silly ones to attract viewers.

Yesterday, MTV unveiled its 2004 music awards nominees for a new category, Best New Soundtrack from a Video Game.

While the last video game CitySeen played was probably Lode Runner, which had about five different sounds to the whole game, let alone a soundtrack, I am left to wonder whether or not gamers actually listen to the music while they are busy hunting for treasure, or landing a flaming plane, or racing through the Sahara Desert in a souped-up Honda.

Anyway, drum roll please, the nominees are: Madden NHL, Need for Speed Underground, SSX 3, Tony Hawk's Underground and True Crime - Streets of LA.

From now until Saturday, you can vote online at www.mtv.com for your favourite soundtrack.

The winner will be announced on September 25 at 11pm on MTV China.
