'Memory books' to help aids-affected children cope

Flora Wu

As the mainland faces a tough battle against Aids, Hong Kong's Chi Heng Foundation is helping orphans and children affected by the disease to preserve family memories by providing them with 'memory books'.

The China Memory Book Project, launched early this summer, aims to help children explore, record and come to terms with their personal histories, relationships and emotions to exert a positive influence on their communities. The books are practical and therapeutic, as they teach children to make use of any resources available in dealing with loss and hardship.

The foundation hopes to distribute 1,500 copies to children affected by Aids in Henan. Paper, pens, colouring pencils, crayons and other stationery are provided by the foundation and private donors. To make a donation, contact the Chi Heng Foundation on 2517 0564 or e-mail at [email protected].
