Financial Secretary Henry Tang Ying-yen will lead a delegation to Shanghai this month to explore business opportunities ahead of the 2010 World Expo.
The delegation, organised by the Trade Development Council, will visit the city on September 21 and 22, when it is understood the Shanghai authorities will brief delegates on details of the expo.
With much of the infrastructure work for the 2008 Beijing Olympics already started, the expo will be the biggest project on the mainland in the next few years.
Mr Tang visited Beijing last week to sign the second stage of the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement free-trade pact with the mainland.
His spokesman confirmed that the minister would lead a delegation to Shanghai and that the trip was related to financial services and the World Expo.
The president of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, Tony Tse Wai-chuen, who is a member of the delegation, said: 'We wish to gather as much information on the World Expo as possible.
