Sharp as a pin

Overtly sexy is out; ladylike is in, and no accessory complements a high neckline better than a well-placed sparkling vintage brooch or two. Hailed as this season's must-have item, designers from Prada (right) to Versace sent them down runways pinned at the shoulder, collar and waist. Locally, Lane Crawford carries a selection of brooches from the 1930s and 40s, with prices ranging from $170,000 to $400,000. For something less expensive, try United States-based department store Neiman Marcus, which has pretty costume pieces by trendy designers, such as Roxanne Assoulin. Her rose pin with green crystals (above left) is US$95, and her art deco pin (left) is $215. Call 1 888 888 4757 to place an order.
