Sexy, strong, independent. Someone who knows what they can and cannot wear and who is not afraid to do so. His mentors in the fashion world include Azzedine Alaia, Alexander McQueen and John Galliano.

His autumn/winter 2004 collection

'The look is active wear but with an elegant touch. It is like taking a traditional Chanel suit and adding a twist to it so it looks different. I put a lot of sportswear detailing into my new collection because right now sportswear has got to be so big.

'We have taken something similar to Juicy Couture but made it into real couture by adding little details like suede and fur-lined trims.

'There are pull-on pants and jackets, making them different from the traditional regular suits you see out there.

'Of course, there is also plenty of leather, which is incredibly sexy.'

Favourite piece for autumn/winter

A leather trenchcoat  (about US$4,000).

Fashion advice

'Accessories are extremely important. You can be dressed down, but with the right handbag and shoes the look is complete.

'People always ask me what one item I would suggest they buy, and it's always a leather jacket or leather item. You can always pair it with anything, like a soft skirt, old dress or jeans, and you will always get a lot more play out of this one garment than if you buy an entire outfit. You can always keep on wearing it and mix it up. A true classic never goes away.'
