Peng Bo bounced back from the disappointment of the synchronised springboard when his partner, Wang Kenan, entered the water totally out of control and landing so badly the duo scored no points, dropping them from first to last place. Peng, who received six 10s during the finals, savoured the moment, saying: 'I feel lucky. You all know the story. Several days ago I felt I should have the gold medal, now I've got it. I'm so happy with my medal it's been really too long. From the Chinese point of view, it is very difficult to think that far ahead. The Chinese tradition is to do things step by step. I have the gold medal today. It doesn't mean I'm going to have it forever.'
