If a leisurely sail across the waters of Discovery Bay isn't good enough for you, then how about throwing in Peng Chau and the Western Harbour, make it a race and toss in a prize for the winner?

That's what the Clerical Medical Asian Open Regatta is all about. Crews of two can take part in the annual competition, organised by the Lantau Boat Club with primary sponsorship from UK-based investment company Clerical Medical.

Club secretary Richard Carrey says the race will last for about 40 to 90 minutes, depending on which line contestants choose. 'The aim is to have fun and test their skills,' he says.

The event is billed as the largest multihull sailing event in Asia. 'We expect there will be 50 to 60 teams at the end,' he says.

The event will take place on October 9 and 10 and the admission fee per team is $600. To enter, visit www.lantauboatclub.com or call Philippe Moriau on 9034 4416.
