Stamps to celebrate ties with Macau, Guangdong

A set of four stamps will be issued next month to celebrate cultural and economic partnerships between Hong Kong and other Pearl River Delta cities.

Acting Postmaster-General Joanna Choi Leung Yuen-mei said the stamps were designed to reflect Hong Kong's ties with Macau and Guangdong, and the strength derived from this unity.

'Even though a stamp may be small in appearance, its significance is often very great,' she said.

'These extraordinary stamps represent not only the strong cultural bond that exists, but the powerful partnerships that make the Pearl River Delta one of the world's greatest economic engines.'

Four denominations will be issued, with a $1.40 stamp depicting infrastructure, a $2.40 stamp representing logistics, a $3 stamp for tourism and a $5 stamp for business.

The stamps, designed by Arde Lam, are to be issued on October 19, but advance orders can be made at post offices from next Tuesday.
