Tipster and breeding expert Phillip Woo raced to a commanding lead in the Racing Post quinella success rankings after Wednesday's Sha Tin meet. But the great effort of tipping seven quinellas out of 10 races was dwarfed by his tipping of the first Double Trio.

Three of Woo's four selections, headed by Sharki, filled the placings in Race 3 and he repeated the dose in Race 4. The first DT dividend was a handsome $18,954.

Woo tipped two winners on top - two behind the benchmark for afternoon, set by racing editor Murray Bell - but his amazing success rate with the quinellas and DT more than compensated.

Woo's seven quinella wins were: Race 1 (Choice and Chance-Fortune Maple) for $80, Race 3 (Sharki-Diligent) for $133, Race 4 (King of the Turf-Brown Beauty) for $275, Race 5 (Master Gigolo, Millennium Spirit) for $199.50, Race 6 (Happy Kid, Euphoric Kid) for $190.50, Race 9 (stablemates Lucky Sixer, Ambitious Tycoon) for $217 and Race 10 (Better Boy-Lucky Champion) for $78.
