Write on

Just when we thought we stashed our pens and pencils away for laptops and PDAs, Gucci makes writing, by hand no less, fashionable again. Choose from a wide selection of chic writing instruments from the new Gucci Writing Collection: classic ballpoint pens, rollerball, pencils and for wannabe Dickens, a fountain pen. The stylish scribblers are available in either a modern cylindrical shape emblazoned with the recognisable G on the cap or a more traditional cigar shape. Made with white or yellow 18-carat gold parts, the body of the pens are handcrafted from cotton resin. The cylindrical-shaped pen is available only in black with a metal cap, while the cigar-shaped versions come in black or ivory. Prices range from $1,750 to $3,000 (those pictured are $2,730) and are available this autumn. Gucci, Lee Gardens Two, Causeway Bay, tel: 2576 6918.
