Tsang the 'Terminal' romantic

If your partner tells you they have no time to go to the cinema because they are just too swamped at work, let Donald Tsang Yam-kuen set the example - even he has time for a movie date.

Last weekend, two days after shaking hands with President Hu Jintao, the chief secretary was seen hand-in-hand with his wife, Selina Tsang Pow Siu-mei, visiting Cyberport cinema to see The Terminal.

The film, about a man trapped for years at an airport in bureaucratic limbo, must have reminded Donald of the metres of red tape through which Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa has to wade. Mr Tsang has been tipped to succeed him in three years.

Sitting just two rows from the entrance of the cinema, it was hard to miss the Tsangs, but the audience appeared not to pay much attention to one of the city's most familiar political faces.

The high-profile couple left the cinema as the film credits were still rolling, leaving no chance for chit-chat with anyone who might have recognised them.
