E-cards may be the most modern method for sending greetings, but snail mail still retains some of its charm, especially for those wishing to add a personal touch at Christmas.

The Children's Heart Foundation and the Children's Cancer Foundation have both launched sets of Christmas cards to raise funds in the run-up to the festive period.

The heart foundation's cards, priced at $250 for 300, feature designs by five winners of an art competition that drew entries from more than 120 children.

Foundation social worker Man Tim-sik says money raised from sales of the cards will be used to buy respiratory equipment.

The heart foundation handles more than 400 new cases per year.

The cancer foundation's cards (one of which is pictured), some designed by children with cancer, are priced at $4.50 each.
