Moving house

Rose and Derek have decided to move to a new home. The whole process is described here, but the events are out of sequence.

Read the paragraphs and put them in the correct order.

A. Rose made a long list of appointments and set off with a map to view the properties that sounded promising. In some cases, she went to the flats with an agent, and sometimes, the owner was waiting for her at the building. A few of the flats were not at all as nice as the ads or agents had told her. Gradually, she narrowed down the choice.

B. As soon as the paperwork was done and the move was official, Derek asked friends and they recommended a removal firm who would come and do the packing and take their belongings to the new flat. He booked them at once as such companies are very busy.

C. Now that the move was only a few days away, Rose and Derek started packing their most precious belongings and personal items such as clothes. They bought extra suitcases and had plenty of strong boxes. It was hard work.

D. Well, they had to move. The big question was which area they wanted to live in. You have to balance convenience, the environment, facilities and cost. Rose and Derek decided that Junk Bay would suit them.

E. It was not time yet to pack, but Derek did contact the utilities - the phone, electric and water companies - to make sure that bills were paid and everything went smoothly. You don't want to move into a house with no water!

F. It was a wonderful moment when the movers left and they closed the door and were finally alone in their new home. 'I hope we'll be very happy here,' said Derek, as he put his arms around Rose and gave her a kiss.

G. That was the flat they wanted, but they thought a bit of bargaining would be a good idea. They didn't want to lose the flat, but if they could get the rent down just a little, it would be nice. The owner thought they would be good tenants, so he was flexible and they soon had an agreement.

H. After looking at the websites, Rose thought she might as well visit some of the property agents in person, so she went to a couple of offices and found the people there very helpful.

I. 'Oh dear, there's a letter here from our landlord. He wants us to move out in a few months,' said Derek to his wife Rose. 'Never mind,' she replied, 'a change will be good for us. I am a bit bored with this place, aren't you?'

J. Rose and Derek went to the offices of the owner's solicitor. She explained the lease to them in detail, they asked a few questions and as everything seemed very satisfactory, they signed.

K. When Derek told Rose he had booked the furniture movers, she started panicking and spent hours going through cupboards and drawers throwing away things they had never used.

L. The day of the move came. Rose and Derek were up very early and ready when the men arrived. Luckily, the company was indeed a good one and they soon had things packed and in the van. They were just as efficient at unpacking in the new flat.

M. Rose, her mother and Derek went to look at Rose's two final choices. They liked both, but agreed that one was slightly better. The decision was made.

N. Rose wasted no time and started looking at ads in the newspapers and did a search on the internet for rental property available in their chosen district. There seemed to be plenty of choice.
