Men fall at fashion's feet

At the opening of the new Givenchy store in the IFC Mall recently, guests had the perfect opportunity to leaf through all the latest trends for the men's autumn-winter 2004 collection.

There was a cluster of gorgeous male models on hand to entice women to have a feel of the latest jackets and shirts.

Metro Radio's Kam Kwok-leung was there to soak in the atmosphere, and has a novel approach when it comes to fashion. 'I wouldn't buy a whole suit of the same label,' he says. 'I prefer to shop for various accessories; either for myself or for friends, and they do the same in return.' Luckily for Kam, he has a generous social circle. 'Every Friday is like Boxing Day for me,' he says.

The exclusive unveiling by the label attracted a score of local celebrities, including burgeoning local fashion designer Lucy Shih, who added some much-needed flirty, girly loveliness to the testosterone-fuelled evening.

There was an element of girls versus boys, with some of the female models pulling off the suited look almost better than the men. But any chance of a competition was distracted by the funky jazz beats of the band, and the whiskey floating by on trays. Guests included Andrew and Yvette Yuen, David and Judy Hong, Nelson Chan and Caroline Roberts.
