Hawker throws boiling water at inspectors

Five inspectors of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department were injured when a hawker threw boiling water at them while resisting arrest in Kwun Tong.

The man, 45, was subsequently overpowered and handed to police. He was arrested for assaulting the five officers in Hoi Yuen Street at 7am. The five hawker control officers were treated at United Christian Hospital and were later discharged.

Police arrest 32 in raid on Yau Ma Tei gambling den

Police arrested 32 people and seized $45,180 in cash and gambling paraphernalia when they raided an illegal gambling den in the car park of a fruit wholesale market in Yau Ma Tei. The 29 men and three women, aged between 21 and 62, were found gambling with dice in Reclamation Street at about 1am.

Two hurt in road smash

Two men were hurt when a van and two minibuses collided in Pokfulam Road outside Pokfulam Garden in Aberdeen at 10am. The van was travelling towards Central when it ran out of control and skidded into the opposite lane, hitting the minibuses.

East Rail disrupted

East Rail services were interrupted for 20 minutes shortly after 9pm when a train broke down in Sheung Shui station. Passengers had to wait 10 minutes for a train instead of the scheduled five. The disabled train was towed away for investigations.

Dead birds test negative

Thirteen birds found dead on the podium of a skyscraper in Kowloon Bay on Thursday have tested negative for bird flu. The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department said the 12 blackbirds and one Japanese white-eye had died of trauma.
