$150,376 raised for Beslan
International schools in Hong Kong raised more than $150,000 for the victims of the school siege in Beslan, Russia, that killed at least 330 people, about half of them children, in September.
The Hong Kong Red Cross received $150,376 from 13 schools and the Hong Kong Indian Women's Club after an appeal initiated by Doug Anderson, principal of Think International School.
On Wednesday, the head boy and girl of the German Swiss International School presented a book of condolences for the victims and survivors of the tragedy to Andrey Smorodin, the Consul-General of the Russian Federation.
'Twenty-six classes from both the German and international streams took part in this effort and made posters expressing their sadness and solidarity with the people of Beslan,' said principal Dr Jens-Peter Green
