What is the secret to a good relationship?

Derek Chung, 16

I think that maintaining a relationship is not as easy as we might expect. You can initiate a relationship by giving gifts, hanging out with people who you call 'friends', or pretending to be nice in front of others. But this is fake and materialistic. To keep a worthy relationship, we have to provide more than insincere communication. What counts more is being considerate and conscientious. Forgiveness and honesty are essential too. Always think about your friends' needs and spend time listening to them. Bear in mind that always lending a helping hand

Trust is the key to all relationships, whether it is a love relationship or one between friends. A relationship needs many things to make it work, such as a bit of humour. However, some relationships lack humour and still turn out OK. But, if you lack trust, you wouldn't have anything to talk about. For example, you wouldn't be able to ask for favours. That would not be a good relationship.

A good relationship is like photography, which contains two essential elements. If we want a marvellous photo, it is necessary to use a good quality camera. If we want to have a good relationship, we must have courage and a good personality. We don't need to be clever or good looking, but we should be optimistic and willing to embrace challenges. The second element is our attitude toward our friends. If a friend is feeling gloomy, it would be better to console her instead of playing a joke - just like a camera needs flash when used in a dark environment. We should also be frank and sincere.

is also valuable.
