Man raped teen in stairwell, court told

A man raped his 17-year-old female neighbour in the stairwell of a public housing estate then called her back a few months later and said he wanted to do it again, a jury heard yesterday.

On the second occasion, despite efforts by her friends to protect her, Ng Tuen-ching, 23, threatened the alleged victim and made her perform oral sex on him, the court heard.

Ng has denied one count of rape and one of indecent assault.

Senior assistant director of public prosecutions Louisa Lai told the Court of First Instance the girl did not make a report to the police after the alleged rape on June 8 last year for fear her mother would find out.

But about the end of October last year, Ng called her, claiming he had videotaped the incident and wanted to do it one more time, the prosecutor said.

The woman told her adopted brother, and he and a friend went to the defendant's flat to confront him, but were chased down the stairs by a chopper-wielding Ng.

Hearing noises, the alleged victim stepped into the stairwell to find herself face to face with Ng, who demanded that she perform oral sex on him, Ms Lai said. She complied, she claimed, because he was carrying a chopper and she was afraid.

While Ng and the girl were in the stairwell, her brother called her mobile phone and, hearing panic in her voice, contacted police.

Ms Lai said Ng told police he had been to a karaoke bar with the girl, but that they had gone home separately. He told them he picked up the chopper to scare away the two strange men who arrived at his flat to confront him.

The trial, before Deputy High Court Judge Mr Justice Derek Pang Wai-cheong, continues today.
