The winner of the 2004 Man Booker Prize, Alan Hollinghurst, has confirmed he will appear at the Hong Kong International Festival in March. His Asian appearance is believed to be the first international event he has committed to since winning the Booker - the biggest literary award in the Commonwealth.

'I'm still discovering the ways in which winning the Man Booker Prize can transform a writer's life. The invitation to Hong Kong is a further unanticipated opportunity,' said the novelist, who won for The Line of Beauty.
