If you're wondering what to do this afternoon, check out the French Carnival being held from noon to 6pm on the outdoor lawn of the marina at the Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club. Admission is free and there will be booths selling wine and other beverages, as well as food such as pan-fried duck foie gras with raisins and apples, and mini-baguettes with French sausage. Other Gallic gastronomic delights will be savoury buckwheat crepes with a choice of French ham, Gruyere or creamy mushrooms. For dessert, sample the creme brulee or crepes with a choice of raspberry, strawberry or apricot jam, chestnut cream or chocolate and banana. There will also be face painting, petanque (French bowls), cooking demonstrations and a cooking competition with Pascal Breant, the chef of Le Parisien in the IFC, Central.
