Building sales and purchase agreements reach 13,690 for November

The total number of sales and purchase agreements for all types of building units in November was 13,690, the Land Registry said on Thursday.
The figure was up by 25.4 per cent and 41.9 per cent compared with October 2004 and November 2003, respectively.
The total consideration of the agreements in November was $44.5 billion ? up 30.2 per cent over the month before. This figure also increased by 108.9 per cent compared with the amount in November 2003, a spokesman said.
Among all the agreements, 11,281 were sale and purchase agreements for residential units.
This was an increase of 28 per cent over October and a rise of 44.4 per cent compared with November 2003, the spokesman said.
The total consideration of these agreements in the month was $35 billion. The amount increased by 31.6 per cent and 98.3 per cent compared with October and November, respectively, last year.
Sales of residential units refer to sale and purchase agreements with payment of stamp duty. The statistics did not include flat sales under the Home Ownership Scheme, the Private Sector Participation Scheme and the Tenants Purchase Scheme except those after payment of a premium, the spokesman added.
