Discovering Wan Chai's  hidden design elements    has been made easier with a  pocket-sized guide.

Detour -Wan Chai, an outreach programme presented by the Hong Kong Design Centre and Hong Kong Trade Development Council,  provides a map of eight carefully choreographed themed routes  through  the district's alleys, lanes and streets.

The Detour map also points out new elements that are hidden in the ageing district, from the art and cultural landmarks to bookshops and cafes.

The programme includes Satellite Exhibition: Hong Kong Design, a showcase by 12 local artists  whose works can be found at  various   shops and studios in Wan Chai.

Detour - Wan Chai  runs until December 12. The map is available from various businesses and public venues. Visit www.detour.hk for more information and pick-up points for the map.
