Organisers have confirmed that 4,000 tickets for the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2005 will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis at Hong Kong Stadium tomorrow.
The ticket sale, amounting to 10 per cent of the stadium capacity, will begin at 3pm. The stadium is hosting a one-day Sevens Festival on the same day. It will kick off at 9am. Two hundred children's tickets will be included in tomorrow's sale.
'The HKRFU [Hong Kong Rugby Football Union] has made every effort to ensure that the largest number of tickets possible for the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2005 are sold in Hong Kong,' said HKRFU executive director Allan Payne.
'We have also made special provisions for families by making a number of children's tickets available, but in the interests of fairness, all tickets must be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
'At the end of ticket sales we expect that 75 per cent of available tickets will have been distributed to the Hong Kong market. This includes a third to rugby clubs, associations, youth and mini-organisations, plus a further third to sponsors and Sevens patrons who for so long have been an integral part of the success of the Hong Kong Sevens.
'Less than one quarter of the tickets have been directly sold overseas, including the IRB [International Rugby Board] allocation, participating teams and rugby unions coming to support the event and those tickets sold through official overseas travel agents. Alongside our local fans and supporters, these groups will add their individual colour to the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2005.'
