JAPANESE PLAY

The Face of Jizo, a popular stage play by Japanese theatre group Komatsu-za, will premiere in Hong Kong today.

The story is set in Hiroshima in 1948 - three years after the dropping of the atomic bomb. Young librarian Mitsue struggles through life in the aftermath of the bombing. Her father, who died in the blast, comes back to life to tell her she must go on living.

The Face of Jizo will be performed in Japanese with Chinese and English surtitles at Hong Kong Arts Centre's Shouson Theatre today at 3pm and tomorrow at 3pm and 8pm. Tickets priced at $150 and $100 (adults) and $50 (students) are available from Urbtix on 2734 9009.

CHRISTMAS CHOIR

Renowned conductor Henry Shek will lead the Hong Kong Choir of Outstanding Children and the New Philharmonic Youth Orchestra of Hong Kong in the concert Santa Claus is Coming to Town.

It will be staged tomorrow at 3pm at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Tickets at $120, $80, $60, with half price concessions for students, are available from Urbtix.

CRAFT WORKSHOP

1Week Learning Studio in Causeway Bay is offering a Christmas craft workshop for parents and children tomorrow at 3pm.

The two-hour workshop will teach participants to make a Christmas hat and a Santa Claus doll.

Course fees for an adult with a child aged between six and 12 is $380 (non-members) and $350 (members). For registration, call 2577 1098.
