Southeast Asian Masters at Arch Angel Art

New Phase 2004: The Hong Kong Visual Arts Society 31st Annual Exhibition

Film: Citizen Dog

Director Wisit Sasanatieng, toast of the Cannes film festival four years ago with his surreal Thai cowboy epic Fah Talai Jone, returns with more weirdness and a hefty dose of satire in his latest film. Inspired by slums and condominiums, socialites and stray dogs, the film examines 'Bangkokians with non-normal souls'. Bangkok Fringe Festival

The festival begins with Les Landscapes' Acharn Kha, an adaptation of American master David Mamet's tense psychological thriller Oleanna, which revolves around the relationship between a teacher and his female student. Followed by a 'performance carnival' in which audiences can choose from live dance, dance on film or open-air theatre, with dozens of acts lined up from all over Asia and beyond. The festival concludes with Bangkok Nutcracker, a cracked take on the Christmas classic that looks at the lives of rats, directed by the Witness Relocation Company of New York and performed by Patravadi Theatre.
