Performers quick to help tsunami victims

Shocked and saddened by the catastrophic Asian tsunami, the city's artists are opening their hearts and loosening purse strings to get help to the survivors. Jackie Chan (right) has donated $500,000 to Unicef, followed by Chow Yun-fat, Leon Lai Ming, Stephen Chow Sing-chi (left) and Andy Lau Tak-wah (middle) who donated $200,000 each to different funds.

'This tragedy didn't take place in Hong Kong, but at this moment there should be no difference of races and national boundaries,' said Lau. 'Hong Kong is a society of utmost charity and kindness, please help with what you can.'

EEG Music has rushed to organise a charity concert on Sunday at the International Trade and Exhibition Centre in Kowloon Bay. Due to the short lead time, the 2,000 tickets have already been allocated and none will be available for public sale. But with donations from performers, EEG expects to collect more than $1 million for relief efforts.
