Armoured speedboats seized by mainland customs are among the items seized from smugglers on display during the first day of a six-day anti-smuggling exhibition in Shenzhen.

Hundreds of seized speedboats will be destroyed starting today.

The exhibition, opened by Guangdong Governor Huang Huahua , is aimed at raising awareness and showcasing the fight against smuggling. Hong Kong's commissioner of customs and exercise, Timothy Tong Hin-ming, attended the opening ceremony.

Other goods that have been seized from smugglers will be auctioned next week.

Shenzhen is one of the busiest ports in the world and the third mainland city to host such an exhibition, after events in Beijing and Nanjing .
