The Crossing Borders Fund-Raising Show on Friday night raised more than $36 million through on-site donation boxes and a seven-hour charity phone-in hotline. CitySeen was there and spoke to many celebrities at the star-studded event. Steve Wong Ka-keung, a member of popular Hong Kong rock band Beyond (pictured, Steve Wong centre), told CitySeen the tsunami had brought out the best in Hongkongers. 'Hong Kong people are currently leading the world with private donations,' Wong told CitySeen. 'I think some wealthier countries could have donated more, for example the United States.' According to the latest statistics, Hongkongers have given about $100 per head in private donations to tsunami victims. 'I have decided to put two of Ka-kui's [late Beyond lead vocalist Wong Ka-kui] guitars up for auction. The reserve price will be $10,000 each and all the proceeds will go to charity,' Wong said.
