Actress speaks out in debut album

Lindsay Lohan, best known for her recent role in Disney's Freaky Friday and high-school comedy Mean Girls, has released her debut album, Speak. In this pop-rock album, Lohan mixes up the beat, unleashes emotions, and shares her feelings about life, love and fame in a raspy voice backed by hum-along tunes.

Lohan is no longer the little girl we grew to love in 1998's The Parent Trap. In her album Speak, she speaks out and it is evident that the young starlet is growing up. But she's still very much a teen struggling to find an authentic image with tracks sounding much like those Britney or Ashlee Simpson would produce.

The lyrics are disappointing with primary themes being boys, boyfriends, and ex-boyfriends. However, the banging dance tracks Rumours and To know your name lift the album, producing a new sound with digital experimentation. To know your name, a song about secret love and a yearning for privacy from the media, is the moodiest and most original track on the album.
