Performers make you feel things in a different light

CitySeen knows it's sometimes hard not to roll your eyes when you hear people coming out of a theatre performance saying: 'I really felt the actors' performances ... the power, the emotion ... wow!' But should you hear these comments after this Friday's performance of Touching Particles' Can You Feel, don't be quick to snicker. The audience means it literally.

The multimedia performance Can You Feel consists of a video screening (a still from the video is pictured) and a dance performance, but with a twist - the dance is done in pitch darkness. Audiences will experience the performance only through their sense of touch, as dancers use their bodies and props to convey what it feels like to be visually impaired.

One of the actors, Canon Kwong Chung-on, who is visually impaired himself, told CitySeen: 'This experience of empathy was one of the most rewarding things about putting together this performance.'

Can You Feel will be performed at the Hong Kong Arts Centre at 8pm on February 18. Entry is free. Go to http://www.oosee.net/oosee/2canyoufeel.htm
