Link Reit challenger loses legal aid appeal

Link Reit challenger Lo Siu-lan has lost her appeal against a decision not to grant her legal aid. In a letter sent to Ms Lo last week, the Legal Aid Department upheld its decision. Her lawyer said they would pursue an appeal in the courts.

College research unit to analyse views on arts hub

The Public Policy Research Institute at Hong Kong Polytechnic University has been appointed to analyse all opinions collected during the consultation on the West Kowloon cultural district. It is also required to conduct three telephone polls and analyse the results to gauge views collected from different channels.

Cepa has helped us, say 53% of firms

Most of the 250 enterprises interviewed in a government survey believe the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement, signed with the central government, had benefited the Hong Kong economy. Fifty-three per cent of the respondents in the random survey said it had helped them to expand on the mainland.

Forex reserves US$125b

Hong Kong is the world's seventh-largest holder of foreign currency reserves, with official foreign currency reserve assets of US$124.7 billion at the end of last month. Japan has the biggest, followed by the mainland, Taiwan, South Korea, India and Russia.
