Woman dies, two people injured in Yuen Long traffic accident

A fatal traffic accident occurred in Yuen Long on Friday morning, leaving one person dead and two injured, local radio reported.

The accident happened around 5am when a van, heading for Yuen Long along the San Tin highway, collided with a car going against the traffic at Fung Kat Heung. The van was turned on its side in the accident, local radio said.

The car driver ? a 43-year-old woman ? was taken to hospital where she was confirmed dead. Two people in the van were also slightly injured.

There was severe traffic congestion following the accident on the San Tin highway in Yuen Long, local radio reported.

Police cordoned off a south section of the road to the Fairview Park Estate for several hours. All vehicles had to make a detour to Castle Peak Road and Pot Oi interchange. The cordon was lifted around 8am.

Police were investigating the accident on Friday afternoon.
