Festival provides a glimpse of the Italian way of life

Hong Kong Bapist University (HKBU) is holding its first Italian Festival this week to promote the country's culture and to enhance its students' knowledge of foreign traditions.

The festival, organised by HKBU's Language Centre, Faculty of Arts and the International Office, features a lecture by Gabriella Meneghello, Italy's consul-general in Hong Kong.

Ms Meneghello will share her views on 'Destination Europe: Italy's time-honoured quest towards continental unity' today. The lecture will start at 1pm at Lam Woo International Conference Centre at HKBU's new campus on Renfrew Road. Renowned Italian actor Mario Pirovano hosted a workshop on story-telling yesterday.

There will be a screening of the Oscar-winning movie, Life is Beautiful by Roberto Benigni, on Thursday night at the Au Shue Hung Centre for Film & TV, and a concert of Italian music, performed by HKBU students, the following day.
