The last remaining six bottles of the world's oldest and most expensive Scotch whisky have been snapped up by a Hong Kong company and put on sale - for $380,000 each.

At the equivalent of more than $13,500 for a standard shot glass of the single malt whisky, shoppers passing through Chek Lap Kok will have a chance to own a bottle of the 64-year-old Glenfiddich Rare Collection 1937.

The bottles are so valued, they were flown to Hong Kong from Scotland in two batches for fear the plane carrying them might crash.

Two arrived in Hong Kong earlier this month and are on sale at Free Duty shops, according to Kelvin Ng, who is the business development manager for the independent distillery William Grant & Sons International.

The remaining bottles are due to reach Hong Kong this weekend from Scotland.

Released in 2001, just 61 bottles of the malt were produced from a single cask.

Only two bottles have been opened, and each are individually numbered with handwritten labels signed by the great, great grandson of the distillery's founder.
