Kazakhstan resources lure mainland firms
CHINA has expanded its trade with Kazakhstan to make use of the neighbouring country's rich energy and mineral resources, says the German ambassador to the newly independent state.
Eike Bracklo said Kazakhstan would be an emerging regional power between Europe and Asia due to its geographical position and economic potential.
Kazakhstan has plentiful supply of oil and minerals, such as copper.
Mr Bracklo said Kazakhstan, which is located between China and Russia, provided a close passage for Europe to the Chinese market.
A trade line was being built between the Netherlands and China through Kazakhstan.
He said China was already exploring the cheap but rich resources of Kazakhstan, which was reflected in the booming border trade between Xinjiang and the country.
