'Lawmakers' from the Baptist Lui Ming Choi Primary School in Shatin wave and shout as they scramble for votes in a mock Legislative Council election held as part of the school's civic education programme.

The day-long event kicked off with school parent and legislator Frederick Fung Kin-kee briefing pupils on the procedures and significance of a Legco election. Candidates from Primary Four to Six were elected and formed their own cabinets to plan school policies and promotion strategies, including banners, slogans, music and drama.

They lobbied for votes around the school during lunch and break times and counting took place after candidates gave speeches on their policies in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
