More than 186,000 vaccinated against flu
Updated at 5.39pm:
More than 186,000 people - considered at high risk of influenza - have been vaccinated since last October under the Influenza Vaccination Programme, a Department of Health spokesman said on Tuesday.
'The vaccination programme has been completed, however elderly people aged 65 or above on Comprehensive Social Security Assistance may continue to obtain the vaccination at public clinics,' added the spokesman.
The Influenza Vaccination Programme covered three categories: sick and old people, frontline medical staff, and poultry industry employees and those involved in culling operations.
About 8,000 people have received vaccinations under the third category to minimise the chance of co-infection of avian and human influenza.
The spokesman advised people to adopt a healthy lifestyle and to adhere to good hygiene to maximise protection against influenza.
