Chapertons Comic Theatre from Spain will bring a wave of surprises to audiences with their comic show Boom!

The Chapertons came second at the United Slapstick Award 1993 in Frankfurt, Germany, and earned the Artist of the Year 2000 title in the comedy category.

Combining imaginative comedy with magic, the comic trio turn car tyres into motorcycles, bumper cars, a circus elephant, frog and even a cowboy.

Boom! will be staged today at Tsuen Wan Town Hall, tomorrow at Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre, Sunday at Tai Po Civic Centre and on March 28 at North District Town Hall. Tickets ranging from $90 to $140, with half-price concessions for students, are available from Urbtix on 2734 9009.

Hong Kong Ballet will stage one of the most stunning Soviet ballets, Spartacus. It is choreographed by Irek Mukhamedov, former star principal dancer with the Bolshoi and Royal Ballet.

Set in ancient Rome, it tells the story of slave and head gladiator Spartacus, who leads a slave uprising against the Romans. Heroic battle scenes and gladiator fights will be staged, with armour and shields provided by Armordillo, the production house for the movie Troy.

The performance will be staged today and tomorrow at 8pm, with weekend matinees at 3pm, at Sha Tin Town Hall. Tickets at $80, $130, $180 and $230 are available from Urbtix.
