Canto-pop star Shawn Yue Man-lok has his heart set on owning his own basketball team.
The 23-year-old singer, an avid basketball player and former Hong Kong youth squad team member, said he'd always wanted to promote the sport in Hong Kong.
'I was an athlete before I entered show business,' Yue said. 'I really want to do something to support the sport. I hope I will be able to afford a basketball team in the future.'
Yue (left, with the ball) let his ambition be known after showing off his ball skills playing for the Street Playground Special Force team as part of the Adidas Streetball Challenge at Wan Chai's Southorn Playground.
He also teamed up with top local players and his friends, Leung Kwok-shing and Shum Chung, to play a three-on-three game with a team formed by students. The event was held to promote the City is Your Playground three-on-three competition to be held on April 30 and May 1 in Mongkok.
'I still go to watch the local basketball league sometimes when I have time,' Yue said.
