One more Hong Kong person has been confirmed dead as a result of the Boxing Day tsunami in Southeast Asia, the government confirmed on Wednesday.

This brings the territory?s death toll to 22, with 18 still reported missing, all of which were believed to have been lost in Thailand. The 22 Hong Kong people who died had all been holidaying in Thailand.

A spokesman said police had contacted relatives of missing Hong Kong residents to collect DNA samples to help Thai Authorities with identification. Hong Kong residents can call the Immigration Department?s hotline at 2829-3010 for assistance.

The lethal tsunami was triggered by a nine-point magnitude earthquake off Indonesia?s coast on December 26 last year. It killed as many as 200,000 people and left 120,000 missing across South and Southeast Asia.
