You're invited to a jazz concert at a bar. So you dress up, get a table near the stage and prepare for a jolly time. Except that instead of a musician, all you see on stage is a big TV screen. But you're not being ripped off, because there is a concert featuring some great jazz - it's just thousands of kilometres away in England and you're catching the action 'live' through video streaming. It is a new business concept developed by the prestigious jazz club The Sands Venue in Lincolnshire, Britain.

The idea is to bring top jazz performances to Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing without sending the jazz artists over. Video streaming will feed concerts at The Sands Venue live or as a delayed broadcast to subscribers. The Sands Venue director Peter Swann will be in town today to tout the concept to bars, restaurants, even shopping malls and gyms. It might be time to start reserving the best treadmill for those concert nights.
