Petitioners in Hong Kong add their signatures to a petition against the Japanese government's approval of a new history textbook which glosses over its invasion of China during the second world war.

Members of the New Territories Association of Societies and the Federation of New Territories Youth also marched yesterday from Chater Garden to the Central Government Offices in Central to protest. The group called on the government to give students a better understanding of Japan's war-time atrocities by increasing the proportion of modern history in the Chinese history curriculum. Another protest has been organised for Sunday.
