Bookie has Grand Armee favourite
Melbourne bookmaker Michael Eskander has made Australian Grand Armee the early favourite at a price of $4.50 for Sunday's $14 million Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Sha Tin.
Eskander is the first international bookmaker to frame a market on the race, the first leg of the World Racing Championships for 2005.
'It's going to be a wonderful race, with top-class horses from both hemispheres but we believe the Australian horse Grand Armee has what it takes to win it,' Eskander said. He has the other Australian visitor Elvstroem second pick at $6, with Epalo and local horse Vengeance of Rain joint third favourites at $7.
Market: $4.5 Grand Armee, $6 Elvstroem, $7 Epalo, Vengeance of Rain, $8 Bullish Luck, $13 Greys Inn, 16 Ain't Here, Russian Pearl, $17 Phoenix Reach, $21 Touch Of Land, $26 Perfect Partner, $34 Elegant Fashion, $67 Super Kid, Sambuca.
