Chance for aspiring artists to improve their skills in Britain

Britain

A scholarship gives aspiring artists a chance to join a British tertiary institute to gain professional qualifications and raise their career prospects.

The Arts Scholarships Scheme 2005-06 is organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC).

The programme provides subsidies for successful applicants to enrol in a one-year, full-time course or a short-term, professional course at a tertiary institution in the United Kingdom.

Scholarship recipients will get a living allowance, while air tickets and tuition fees will be subsidised.

Since its inception in 1999, the programme has sent 23 promising arts practitioners and students to the UK.

Applicants must be permanent Hong Kong residents. Priority will be given to those who are working in the arts field and to students in the final year of their arts-related course.

The deadline for applications is May 27. Application forms can be obtained at the HKADC office (22/F, 181 Queen's Road, Central), or downloaded from www.hkadc.org.hk

For for more details, contact Mr Tam of the HKADC at 2820 1082.
