A high-profile lawyer whose face was slashed on Monday said he knew who was behind the attack and had received repeated warnings since last week.
Andrew Lam Ping-cheung, his face bandaged after receiving more than 20 stitches, attended a District Court hearing yesterday in which he acted as a defence lawyer in an ICAC case.
'The attack was nothing to do with love affairs, but it was about work,' he said after yesterday's hearing.
'I know who is behind the attack but I still hesitate to tell police, fearing it will put me in further danger ... I have received repeated warnings through one of my good friends who tipped me off over the phone on Thursday and Sunday.
'I was warned that that person wanted to 'take my life' and even bring harm to my son ... The attacker tried to cut a vein that could kill me.' He did not rule out that the attacker was a professional hit man.
Mr Lam said he was still considering whether to continue working on the lawsuit he believed had given rise to the attack. He insisted the attack was not related to a dispute with his client over legal fees but refused to disclose further details.
